The ongoing cold snap has already caused significant disruption—absurd scenes occurred at Musselburgh on Friday, leaving bettors frustrated.

The event was called off just seven minutes ahead of the scheduled start of the first race.

Despite enduring five inspections, attendees arrived only to be turned away without witnessing a single race.

Conditions are similarly bleak across the Irish Sea.

Naas is set to hold a Grade 1 event on Sunday featuring Champion Bumper winner Jasmin De Vaux and others.

However, the track must clear a 7:30 AM raceday inspection due to snow forecasts for Saturday night.

Cork also faces an 8 AM inspection for its Saturday meeting, with temperatures expected to plummet to -2C overnight.

Currently, Southwell’s Flat racing is the only event confirmed to go ahead on Saturday.

Towns across the UK inundated after New Year downpours – with up to 12 inches of SNOW on the horizon

Sandown’s clerk of the course, Andrew Cooper, informed the Racing Post: “Considering the weather forecast, we need to conduct an inspection, as there’s uncertainty overnight and a chance of freezing fog in the morning.”

“We saw a heavier frost than anticipated on Thursday night, but the course was raceable by midday on Friday.”

“Temperatures are predicted to drop again tonight, possibly reaching -1C or even -2C overnight, so we must check.”

Wincanton has reported lows of -6C, and officials there are ‘more hopeful than confident’ about proceeding with racing.
