One of his lesser-known feats occurred in 1993 when he managed to score 240 with just three darts.

Under normal circumstances, a player’s highest possible score in a single round is 180, accomplished by hitting three treble 20s.

Nevertheless, during the 1993 UK Matchplay in Chesterfield, a special “Quadro” board was introduced.

This board had an extra ring located between the bullseye and the treble ring, which permitted players to score quadruples.

This innovation enabled Taylor and his opponent Jockey Wilson to achieve 240 by hitting three quadruple 20s – a remarkable skill showcased by Taylor.

The commentator was left in disbelief as the announcer exclaimed “240” while the crowd roared with applause.

The “Quadro” board was discontinued in 2000 and has not been utilized in professional play since then.
