According to reports, six Premier League clubs are interested in signing Dani Olmo after Barcelona’s failed efforts to register him.
The Spanish club spent £50 million to bring the midfielder from RB Leipzig last summer.
Unfortunately, Barcelona succeeded only in registering him until the end of 2024, owing to financial restrictions imposed by La Liga.
Moreover, their efforts to secure his registration for the current season have been REJECTED by the Spanish governing body, suggesting that Olmo is likely to leave Nou Camp as a free agent this month.
Furthermore, reports from Spain suggest that several Premier League teams are gearing up to compete for the 26-year-old’s signature.
Clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham are among those allegedly interested in the Spain international, along with Manchester United, Man City, and Arsenal.
However, these Premier League clubs may encounter strong competition from Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Paris Saint-Germain for Olmo’s signature.
Amid the uncertainty concerning his future, Olmo has remained professional, and he recently gained some insight regarding this situation on New Year’s Eve.
A statement from La Liga mentioned: “Barcelona has not presented any alternative that would enable registration, in line with La Liga’s economic control regulations, to register any player from next January 2.”
Despite these challenges, Barcelona is optimistic about retaining Olmo, having applied for a new license from the Royal Spanish Football Federation to register Olmo and his teammate Pau Victor.

A statement from the club read: “FC Barcelona informs that it has requested a new licence from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Víctor.
“Additionally, the Club wishes to clarify that it has neither sought nor received any moratorium from any other body regarding the requested registration.”
Barcelona’s next match is slated for January 4, where they will take on Barbastro in the Copa del Rey.
As it currently stands, Olmo will not be eligible to participate.
