JUVENTUS is set to make a loan proposal for Joshua Zirkzee following a disappointing turn in his Manchester United career on Monday night.
The Dutch international forward was substituted just 33 minutes into the 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle on Monday evening.
Fans of United promptly cheered the decision but followed up with boos as the £35 million forward exited the pitch to let Kobbie Mainoo take his place.
Zirkzee looked visibly upset as he made his way directly to the tunnel but came back to sit on the bench for the second half.
While Ruben Amorim has vowed to back the 23-year-old, Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford seems increasingly uncertain.
He is highly regarded in Italy, having enjoyed a fruitful spell at Bologna before joining United last summer.
During that time, he worked under Thiago Motta, who is now the coach of the Turin side and would be keen to work with him again.
However, the possibility of Juventus providing a much-needed financial boost to the Red Devils this month appears slim, with any proposal likely to be a loan arrangement.
United is looking to raise funds to support Amorim’s aims of acquiring new players in the winter transfer window.
Zirkzee has played in all 19 of his team’s Premier League matches thus far, scoring three goals, but he has become a focal point for criticism by some fans in light of the team’s struggles.

Amorim stated that both he and the club will continue to support Zirkzee after his tough experience.
The United manager explained: “We needed to take into account the situation; the player was visibly distressed during the match, and we needed another midfielder.
“Making that choice was tough, but I spoke to Joshua about it, and it was essential in that moment for him to step aside.
“I know he’s a genuinely good person. When he went down the tunnel, I realize that some may feel down – but that’s part of life.
“He is a good lad. We will stand by him and continue to support him.”
