Since 1981, sports that allow knockouts as a victory method have been banned, although the ban on boxing was lifted in 2014.

Nonetheless, MMA remains unrecognized, leading Norwegian athletes to fight abroad.

Bolander is one of those competitors, but she returns home a champion after defeating Lucie Pudilova for the bantamweight Oktagon title.

The 28-year-old was overcome with emotion as she passionately advocated for the legalization of the sport in her homeland.

She stated: “Please legalize the sport in Norway!”

Beginning her fighting career in 2021, Bolander made her professional debut just a year later.

She now boasts a record of 4-1 following her victory over Pudilova in their rematch, having previously lost to her in September.

In celebration of her triumph, Bolander gleefully ran around the cage as the split-decision result was revealed.

Struggling to hold back her tears, she shared: “This is tough! I didn’t anticipate five rounds, I apologize.

“I train for five rounds, but you always wish for a quick finish. I hope we entertained you; I truly value that part of the sport.

“First, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Oktagon for welcoming me in this manner.

“To all the fans who have rallied behind me since my last fight, I am eternally grateful.

“I love this sport more than words can express – it’s extremely tough, but it gets easier with fans like you. I’m very emotional, and I hope you can adapt to that!

“Thank you, Pudilova, for the fantastic fight; and to my team, I love you all for everything we have experienced together.

“To my friends, family, and teammates at Norwegian Top Team, you are my brothers, and I am grateful for your unwavering support.”
