The hierarchy at ASTON VILLA has voiced its disapproval of the FA for showing a lack of “credibility” following the dismissal of the club’s appeal concerning Jhon Duran’s red card.

Manager Unai Emery was incensed after referee Anthony Taylor’s choice to send off the Colombian forward, who has netted 12 goals, for a stamp on Newcastle’s Fabian Schar on Boxing Day went unaltered by VAR.

Duran is now facing a three-match suspension, and Villa officials Damian Vidagany and Monchi have voiced their anger over “these unjust decisions.”

Former Villa player and club ambassador Ahmed Elmohamady also condemned the FA’s refusal of their appeal as “disgraceful.”

Duran, 21, received a straight red from Taylor during the 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park and will miss the next Premier League match against Brighton, as well as games against Leicester and a home FA Cup third-round tie against West Ham.

Villa’s director of football operations, Vidagany, stated: “Three matches for Jhon Duran. The true victim here is not Villa, but the credibility of the officials who rendered this judgment.

“We will keep fighting; nothing will deter us, and we will transcend all these unjust decisions. We will proceed with dignity.”

Monchi, the president of football operations, commented: “We can accept a mistake because to err is human, but to continue with the error casts doubt on the system.

“I come from a place [Sevilla] where the motto is ‘never give up’. We will persist in our fight for our club.”

Elmohamady further expressed: “It’s completely disgraceful; it was never a red card in the first place.”

The PGMOL maintains that VAR Graham Scott endorsed Taylor’s decision.

However, Emery lamented: “I can understand the opposing team pushing for a red card, but VAR, please!

“His reaction afterwards was ‘Sorry, sorry’. I don’t believe he intended to kick him.

“This punishment is excessive for what occurred.”

Emery garnered support from former Newcastle star Alan Shearer, who deemed the red card “harsh,” pointing out that Duran lost his footing after twisting his left ankle just before colliding with Schar.
