There was growing concern regarding the treacherous Stelvio slope, which is scheduled to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.

As reported by the French ski federation, Sarrazin, aged 30, remained conscious but was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, indicating bleeding around the brain.

The French skier was quickly taken to a hospital and subsequently airlifted to the nearest medical facility.

Upon further assessment, it was confirmed that the Olympian would undergo surgery on Friday evening, according to the sport’s governing body, FIS.

Pietro Zazzi was also transported by helicopter to a hospital following a separate incident.

The Italian ski federation indicated that Zazzi endured “a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg.”

The ski star was taken to Milan, where surgery is scheduled for Saturday.

Moreover, Swiss skier Josua Mettler experienced a crash on Friday and was later taken home for additional knee injury evaluations.

These incidents heightened concerns about the safety of Stelvio’s downhill course, which will be used for the upcoming Milan-Cortina Olympics next winter.

Sarrazin’s teammate Nils Allegre expressed his concerns about the situation: “In my clear opinion, they do not know how to set up a course.”

“They’ve been constructing courses for 40 years, yet their results are consistently dangerous.

“Perhaps not everyone will agree with this, but this is my strongly held belief.

“It’s unacceptable; I’m not sure what they intend to showcase, but having a course like this a year before the Olympics is unworthy of the Games.”
