The winger has been absent from United’s last three matchday selections.

Rashford has stated that he is looking for a “new challenge” and is reportedly available for around £40 million.

However, Foster, now 41, argues that the Red Devils will struggle to secure that amount.

On his Cycling GK podcast, he pointed out: “Marcus Rashford is a name that frequently circulates, with many saying ‘on his day, on his day.’

“But that day occurs once every ten matches. Honestly, it’s once every ten matches, and you can’t justify keeping a luxury player like that in today’s game; it’s simply not sustainable.

“Furthermore, the additional reputation and expectations surrounding him lead me to believe that Mikel Arteta wouldn’t want him anywhere near Arsenal.

“He must depart Manchester United. I envision this resulting in a transfer to the MLS or a similar league. A considerable pay cut would be necessary.”

Rashford currently earns about £325,000 weekly, with his contract at United lasting until the summer of 2028.

Throughout this season, he has made 15 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals.

Regarding potential obstacles for Rashford, Foster noted: “Once that spark diminishes, can it be reignited? It must come from within, and I’m not sure he will rediscover it.

“Then there’s the financial aspect, which complicates everything.

“When players secure large contracts with years of guaranteed income, that motivation can often fade.

“The proposed £40 million fee raises doubts. Even offering £10 million? I wouldn’t even consider it… factoring in all that’s involved.”

Amorim, now 39, was recently asked about Rashford’s predicament by Sky Sports.

‘A CHALLENGING SITUATION’

The Portuguese head coach expressed: “It’s a challenging situation. I understand that many players have individuals around them making decisions that might not coincide with the player’s original wishes.

“I’m committed to supporting Marcus as I would for any player. I must fulfill my responsibilities.

“The interview was their choice, as this isn’t just about Marcus. I comprehend that aspect.

“As a coach, I focus on performance and training. The other matters can be addressed at a more appropriate time for me and the club.”

Later today, Man Utd is scheduled to play against Wolves.

Rashford’s most recent appearance was during the 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen on December 12.
