The Premier League club with the most Boxing Day success has been revealed, and it’s quite surprising that they don’t sit in the top tier of this season’s rankings.
Researchers have examined over 32 years of statistics to reveal various fascinating figures, highlighting clubs with the most victories and defeats.
Interestingly, Manchester United fans have the most reason to celebrate this Christmas – they lead in Premier League Boxing Day triumphs over any other club.
With an impressive total of 21 victories, United not only holds the record for the most wins but also for the most goals scored, with 76 goals on December 26th.
On the other hand, Newcastle has the unfortunate distinction of the most Boxing Day defeats, having lost 15 times across 32 matches, conceding 45 goals.
Four clubs – Manchester City, Everton, Chelsea, and Aston Villa – are featured in both the wins and losses categories due to their rich history of both festive victories and defeats.

The findings come from a survey of 2,000 football fans, revealing that 40% look forward to Boxing Day football more than any other day on the football calendar.
This festive football enthusiasm outshone transfer deadline day (13 percent) and even the Carabao Cup final (10 percent), marking it as the day that fans eagerly anticipate the most.
Festivities include nearly all teams playing, and the enjoyment of turkey sandwiches while cheering on from home.
Moreover, an average football enthusiast might watch up to five matches during this bustling holiday season, racking up over 10 hours of live action.
A spokesperson from Lottoland.co.uk Sportsbook, the organization behind this research and the creation of a tool for fans to predict scores for this year’s matches, commented: “It’s a delightful late Christmas gift for football fans.
“While some players may complain about training and sticking to a pasta diet during the festive season, fans revel in a multitude of football entertainment.
“There’s so much to enjoy, and the Boxing Day fixtures are a highlight for many when the schedule is announced.”
The study illustrates that most fans are not particularly sympathetic towards Premier League players working on Boxing Day, unlike the majority of employees enjoying the day off.
With 27% expressing some sympathy and 34% stating they have none whatsoever.
Other reasons fans cherish the festive sport include sharing the experience with others at home (22%) and a welcome break from the typical “Christmassy” TV and films (17%).
Additionally, 13% see watching 90 minutes of football as a refreshing escape from family responsibilities.
Notably, 29% are inclined to watch matches even when their team isn’t playing, simply because they are being broadcasted.
Furthermore, 34% are especially looking forward to this year’s December 26 fixtures because of the exciting title race.
Almost one in five (17%) find more joy in the sport on this day than in unwrapping their gifts.
However, 30% reported that if their team loses on Boxing Day, it can spoil their entire festive mood, according to data from OnePoll.com.
The representative from Lottoland.co.uk Sportsbook added: “Naturally, watching an abundance of football is far more enjoyable when your team is victorious.
“Enduring two or three back-to-back losses is hardly anyone’s idea of a good time.
“However, for those without a particular team to support, the ongoing action remains a positive aspect.”
