Holiday spirit was noticeably absent between a professional lacrosse athlete and a pair of fans who allegedly experienced a troubling event.
Tyson Bell, a prominent player for the Halifax Thunderbirds, is currently facing scrutiny from the National Lacrosse League after clips emerged showing him apparently punching one fan and swinging his lacrosse stick at another.
This altercation occurred following the Thunderbirds’ 19-14 loss to the Colorado Mammoth in Denver on December 21.
Bell appeared to react to jeers from fans as he made his way into the tunnel after the game.
While three of his teammates remained composed despite the harassment, Bell’s response was notably intense towards the provocations directed at them.
As he approached the tunnel, the 30-year-old turned to confront the fans at the barrier dividing them from the audience.
In that tense moment, he seemed to PUNCH one of the attendees.
He subsequently struck a second fan on the head with his stick once they had pushed the barrier backward.
Ultimately, teammates, other fans, and security personnel intervened to guide the long-stick midfielder away from the scene.
The NLL released a statement the following day.
