Stokes injured himself during England’s 2-1 Test series victory over New Zealand.

The incident took place while he was bowling on Day Three of the Third Test.

This is not the first occasion Stokes has dealt with this specific injury.

He had previously torn his left hamstring in August while competing in The Hundred.

There are hopes that this surgery will aid in preventing a future recurrence of the injury.

Furthermore, Stokes was not selected for the upcoming matches against India by England’s head coach, Brendan McCullum.

He will also be unavailable to play for MI Cape Town against the South African team in next month’s SA20.

Nonetheless, Stokes is determined to make a return in time for England’s Test match against Zimbabwe in May.
