Football icon Kyle Walker will celebrate Christmas Day with his estranged spouse Annie Kilner, having chosen to temporarily pause their divorce proceedings for the sake of their children’s welfare.
The 34-year-old England and Manchester City player is gearing up for a significant legal confrontation regarding a portion of his £27 million fortune in the forthcoming year.
Annie ended their relationship after learning that Kyle had a second child with model and former flame Lauryn Goodman.
Nevertheless, they have reached a Christmas truce for the benefit of their four kids — Roman, 12, Riaan, eight, Reign, six, and baby Rezon.
A source disclosed: “It’s been a challenging year. However, Annie deserves considerable recognition.
“Despite Kyle’s actions, she couldn’t stand the idea of him spending Christmas Day alone without their children.
“They are setting aside their differences to spare the children from additional distress.”
Kyle will spend Christmas morning with Annie and the kids before joining his City teammates in preparation for their match against Everton on Boxing Day.
Annie, 31, might return to Sheffield to be with her family, including her sister Sian.
The £150,000-per-week defender was pushed out last year after Lauryn, 34, revealed everything to a heavily pregnant Annie.
In a message dated December 27, she wrote: “Hey it’s Lauryn. Just wanted to quickly let you know that Kyle is the father of our daughter.”
After being kicked out, Kyle rented a mansion close to their family home in Prestbury, Cheshire. In his only interview shortly after, he told The Sun: “What I’ve done is inexcusable, and I take full responsibility.”
The couple tried to repair their relationship but seemed emotionally disconnected at the Euros as Kyle and the Three Lions’ squad struggled through to the final, ultimately falling to Spain.
He returned to the UK the following day and soon found himself in court in London, addressing financial disputes with Lauryn regarding their daughter, Kinara.
A judge accused Lauryn of exploiting his secrecy for personal gain.
Friends of both Annie and Kyle had hoped the strict ruling might lead to a mending of their relationship.
Instead, it further widened the rift, uncovering the substantial sums Kyle had paid Lauryn in attempts to keep her quiet.
Annie is now pursuing a 50-50 division of his assets as part of the divorce settlement.
