Kaizer Chiefs winger Naledi Hlongwane, who was recognized as Man of the Match following the All-Stars’ 3-0 victory against Magesi FC, revealed that a portion of his R100,000 prize money will be allocated to constructing a tombstone for his late father.

Hlongwane, who lost his father last year, netted two goals as the All-Stars demonstrated their superiority with three quick goals in the first half against Magesi.

“The prize money I received today, particularly after my father passed away last year, is intended for a tombstone in his honor,” Hlongwane conveyed to the media, earning applause from those present. “The remainder will be given to my mother, and the balance will go into my savings account.”

Hlongwane showcased impressive talent, scoring both goals with accuracy. His first goal came from a brilliant left-footed strike, assisted by teammate Samkelo Zwane, who also found the net for the second goal in the first half.

Hlongwane completed his brace just before halftime, skillfully finishing after receiving an assist from Mbekezeli Mbokani.

“Playing alongside well-known players in the PSL, like Thembinkosi Lorch, was an amazing experience,” Hlongwane reflected.

“I know Mfundo Vilakazi well, as we trained together before he was elevated to the first team. We practiced together at U-19 and DDC prior to his promotion.”

Having previously partnered with Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng during their youth, Hlongwane expressed his ambition to follow in Mofokeng’s footsteps. Mofokeng, a fan favorite at Pirates, was integral to the victorious All-Stars team before being substituted at halftime.

When asked about his chances of joining the Kaizer Chiefs senior squad, Hlongwane stated, “If I get a call-up and sign with the first team, I will embrace that opportunity with open arms.”

However, during the press conference, Hlongwane was caught off guard by cramps, momentarily interrupting his response and eliciting laughter from the media. “Yoh, eish,” he exclaimed before concluding his remarks.
