AmaZulu co-coach Vusi Vilakazi has indicated that the club isn’t finished with its transfer market activities, emphasizing the importance of securing a permanent striker.
This statement follows the recent signings of Sandile Mthethwa and Bongani Zungu as the team strengthens its squad in preparation for the forthcoming transfer window.
Vilakazi noted that their top scorer, Etiosa Ighodaro, is currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns and does not constitute a permanent addition to the AmaZulu squad.
“I believe we should consider bringing in another striker,” said Vilakazi. “Currently, we have Sede Dion, Ighodaro, and Mbhobho (Senzo Ndlovu) on our roster. Unfortunately, Ighodaro is not permanently ours as he is on loan. We need to recruit a striker who can boost competition and align well with our system. This is the key area where we must ensure we have suitable players.”
The 23-year-old Ighodaro has been a vital player for AmaZulu this season, sharing the top scorer position with Hendrick Ekstein, having scored three goals in the league.
Sitting in 13th place on the Betway Premiership standings, Usuthu is poised to face league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this Tuesday.
