Tyson Fury might have stumbled in the mind games against Oleksandr Usyk, yet his trainer expresses “trust” that he will find redemption in Riyadh.

Andy Lee, a former middleweight world champion from Ireland, is not only related to the Gypsy King as his cousin but also plays a crucial role as an advisor in his training camp.

Fury, who is 36 years old, faced heartbreak before their initial heavyweight bout in May when his wife Paris underwent a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy.

Lee admits that he won’t truly know how Fury’s first professional defeat has affected his fighting spirit and steadfast confidence until the first bell rings on Saturday.

Lee stated: “Only he can determine that. He is exceptionally driven and confident. Nevertheless, it’s common for fighters to feel uncertain after their first loss; it can shake their self-esteem.

“Yet, in Tyson Fury’s case, we are dealing with someone who is far from ordinary.

“He is an exceptionally unique individual — I place my confidence in him.”

Fury, towering at 6ft 9in, exhibits incredible agility, resilience, and theatricality—all enhanced by his complex mindset.

At this moment, Fury must rebuild his ego and tactics to outmaneuver the man he derogatorily labeled as an “ugly, little rabbit sausage.”

In an October press conference, the Ukrainian gained a psychological advantage by showcasing images of his devastating ninth-round knockout that was pivotal in securing his split-decision victory.

Lee reflected on Fury, saying: “I’ve always considered him the puppet master, as he can sway his opponents during weigh-ins and interviews. However, I think he has yet to achieve that with Usyk.

“There’s the visible contest, the clash of hands and feet in the ring. But there’s also an internal struggle, the battle of wills.

Tyson Fury surprises a reporter with a cold warning of significant harm to Oleksandr Usyk in their heavyweight rematch

“I’m not sure how much this weighs on him since, in one of our recent discussions during training camp, I noted how he appeared to be reaching peak condition.

“He cut me off to assert, ‘Andy, I will obliterate this guy, I’ll simply overpower him. I don’t get why everyone is worried and discussing tactics; I’m just going to steamroll him’.

“After hearing that, I thought, ‘Oh, yes, he’s absolutely ready’. I have faith in him.

“I truly believe in him. If anyone can overcome these hurdles, it’s Tyson Fury.”
