LUKE LITTLER accepted an invitation to the Premier League with an eight-word statement that certainly hasn’t aged well.
At the tender age of 17, Littler has been generating buzz in the realm of darts since making his debut last year at just 16.
The Nuke made it to the finals of the 2024 World Championship, ultimately losing to Luke Humphries.
When approached about a place in the Premier League, the Warrington player hinted to his manager that this opportunity might be a one-time event.
Littler responded to his representative with eight words: “Let’s do it; it might not happen again.”
This teenage prodigy reminisced about that crucial moment with fondness.
Littler expressed: “It’s surreal, no more development tours; this is it. Competing in the Premier League and firmly within the [world’s top] 32.”
“Immediately after I left the stage [post-World Championship final], after talking to the media and greeting my family, my manager came over and asked, ‘Do you want to do it?’ I said, ‘Let’s do it, it might not happen again.’
However, the World Championships and Premier League were just the beginning for Littler.
The rising star topped the league phase and got revenge on Humphries in the final.
Littler later triumphed at the Grand Slam, propelling him to fourth place in the world rankings.
He is now the bookmakers’ favorite for the World Darts Championship.
Littler may have the opportunity for revenge against Humphries if they meet again in the semi-finals.
