Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has once again voiced his frustration regarding missed opportunities after his team settled for a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Monday, stressing the urgency to enhance their attacking capability.

This match signified the seventh draw in their last nine encounters in the Betway Premiership, with left-back Samukelo Kabini netting the first goal via a header in the 35th minute, before Ranga Chivaviro leveled the score during stoppage time, securing a point for Amakhosi.

Nabi’s squad has managed only one victory in their previous five league outings and is currently positioned ninth on the league table with 12 points amassed from nine matches. The Soweto giants maintain a goal difference of zero, with 13 goals scored and 13 conceded.

The Tunisian coach conveyed his disappointment regarding his team’s early match performance, admitting they frequently found themselves on the defensive. He also noted that conceding a goal from a set piece altered the game’s momentum.

“We felt that our start was poor; in the first 20 minutes, we lost possession frequently, made simple passes that went off target, and failed to win duels, which placed us in a challenging situation. We tried to make tactical adjustments around the 25th minute,” Nabi told SuperSport TV through a translator.

“We conceded a goal from a set piece just as we were gaining a foothold and beginning to play better. In the second half, we advanced but once again failed to take advantage of our scoring opportunities.

“In the end, we did everything we could to boost our offensive presence, and while we appreciate securing the point, we feel we have yet to reach the expectations for a team like Kaizer Chiefs, and we must strive diligently to enhance and fortify our squad,” he added.

Nabi emphasized that Chiefs’ goal-scoring difficulties arise from a shortage of players capable of converting chances, underscoring the necessity for a striker who is keen to score.

“We possess players skilled in dribbling and short passing, yet we lack physical presence; we are missing decisive players who can shoot proficiently. It’s essential that we bring in such players moving forward,” he asserted.

“A perfect Christmas present would be new signings who can elevate the team, and we will do everything possible with our current roster to achieve improved results.”

The Glamour Boys are set to take on Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium in their next league fixture on 29 December, aiming to end the year positively and secure their fourth victory of the 2024/25 season.
