AMAD DIALLO left Manchester City stunned by completely overturning the derby outcome.
The energetic winger won a penalty, which was converted by Bruno Fernandes, to equalize in the closing moments of the match.
But the best was still to come, as Amad skillfully rounded Ederson and expertly finished a dramatic winner from a tight angle deep into injury time.
Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis assessed the Man Utd players…
Andre Onana – 6
He doesn’t inspire much faith. He struggles to dominate his area and, similar to midweek in Plzen, his distribution often helps the opposition.
Nevertheless, he wasn’t extensively tested.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
He seems more composed under Amorim than before, where he often overexerted himself to live up to his ‘Butcher of Amsterdam’ moniker.
He delivered a fantastic through ball at the end to assist Amad’s winner.
Harry Maguire – 8
Had a strong contest with Erling Haaland, emerging victorious.
It was wise to include the former captain for such an important match. He fits well into the central defensive position.
Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7
Displayed a solid performance. He appeared more comfortable alongside Maguire compared to his previous defensive partners.
Diogo Dalot – 5
He mistimed his jump, allowing Josko Gvardiol to score from a corner for City. He didn’t contribute significantly going forward from his wing-back role.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Missed a crucial chance after being set up by Hojlund and shooting wide.
However, when the penalty arose, he kept his composure under pressure, sending Ederson the wrong way to equalize.
Manuel Ugarte – 7
He effectively shielded the back four and minimized much of what Phil Foden attempted for the home team.
Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8
The standout among the summer recruits. Played as a right wing-back and easily adapted to various responsibilities as needed. One of United’s top performers on the day.
Mason Mount 13′ – 6
He appeared visibly upset when he had to leave the field early. He has been on a poor run with injuries and has struggled for consistency since joining the club.
Amad Diallo 90′ – 9
He delivered the most extraordinary moment of his career with a memorable derby-winning goal. First, he made an impressive run to connect with Martinez’s pass, nudging the ball past Ederson, and although it was a somewhat mishit finish, it found its way onto the target.
He almost equalized earlier with a flicked header that was well saved by Ederson.
Additionally, he was quick to capitalize on Nunes’s back pass, resulting in the penalty that helped United draw level.
Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6
His presence was mostly felt during his face-off with Walker, who went down and during his own minor tumble seeking a penalty.
However, he delivered a superb pass for Fernandes that should have led to an equalizer.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6
Performed well after stepping in for Mount, enabling Fernandes to move into a more advanced position.
Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6
Not typically the type of player to turn a match around, but he handled possession well in the closing moments.
Antony 78′ – 6
Entered with expectations of making an impact but showed signs of lacking confidence due to limited game time.
Leny Yoro 78′ – 6
Slowly returning to full fitness after an injury sustained over the summer.
Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6
Had insufficient time to influence the game.
