LIVERPOOL is currently £100,000-a-week short of persuading Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign a new five-year deal.
The executives at Anfield have suggested a £70,000 increase to his current weekly pay of £180,000.
Nevertheless, Alexander-Arnold is aiming for £350,000 per week to match the pay of fellow contract rebel from a Premier League rival, Mohamed Salah.
With his contract set to expire this summer, he is aware that Real Madrid is ready to present an enticing offer.
Like Salah and team captain Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold will be eligible to converse with foreign clubs next month.
He has mentioned to close friends that he would prefer to stay at Liverpool, especially since he has recently settled into a £5 million home in Cheshire.
The Liverpool vice-captain is also embarking on a new romance with Estelle Behnke.
Despite this, sources from SunSport indicate that he remains firm on receiving a remuneration that reflects his true value, consistent with what Real Madrid is prepared to offer.
Last week, he stated: “I have spent 20 years at the club and have signed four or five contract extensions.
“None of those have been made public, and neither will this one.”

Meanwhile, Van Dijk, who is 33 years old, has been offered a new contract as the club seeks to maintain their star defender beyond June when his current deal runs out.
However, the offer from the Merseyside club reportedly falls short of the centre-back’s demands, and negotiations regarding the contract’s terms or duration have not progressed.
The Reds have also made “concrete steps” in contract discussions with Salah, 32.
His future has generated considerable interest from fans and the media, but he has hinted multiple times that his eight-year stay at Anfield may be coming to an end.
Last month, the Egypt international revealed to Sky Sports that “no offer” had been presented regarding a new contract.
So far, the club’s owners, FSG, have not fulfilled Salah’s salary expectations, and he knows there are lucrative offers available in Saudi Arabia.
