BERNARDO SILVA has voiced his frustration with Manchester City for “appearing immature” after their defeat to Manchester United.
Despite taking an early advantage through a goal by Josko Gvardiol in the first half, City fell victim to two late goals from their local rivals.
This outcome meant Pep Guardiola‘s squad has only secured one win over their last 11 matches.
After the match, Silva, 30, shared with Sky Sports that City “got what they earned” from the game.
He commented: “What happened to us was deserved. In this sport, it’s possible to be unfortunate in one or two games, but the evidence over ten games suggests otherwise.
“In the 87th minute of a derby, while leading 1-0, we gave away a corner that turned into a penalty for them. Foolish decisions in the dying moments invite that result.
“From my perspective, there was only one team that seemed able to win, yet we ended up with the loss. This isn’t just about this one match; our recent showings have not been up to par.
“We need to take a long, hard look at our actions. It’s easy to chalk it up to ‘bad luck,’ but it isn’t. It all comes down to the decisions we make. Today, in the final moments, we played like we were in an Under-15 match.”
Regarding the “foolish” decisions made by City, Silva elaborated: “We need to ensure they don’t happen again.
“It’s disheartening because until the 86th minute, we were clearly the stronger side.

“Following a City corner, we allowed a center-back to remain, ultimately finding ourselves with the ball at our goalkeeper’s feet. That is inexcusable.”
Silva, who has won six Premier League titles, didn’t hesitate to call out his teammates as well.
He added: “When these mistakes recur over ten games, we must take responsibility and focus on what needs improving.
“We need to enhance our communication on whether to play short or maintain possession in the corner. At the very least, if the ball reaches one of our midfielders, we should push it towards the corner. We shouldn’t put ourselves under unnecessary pressure. This isn’t just about the pass from Matheus to the keeper.
“It’s about the entire sequence from Ruben [Dias] to Matheus [Nunes], and then to Kyle [Walker]; we have significant room for improvement.
“We need to show more experience and savvy. At this level, even if you’re technically superior to your opponents, you must avoid losing due to poor choices.
“It’s clear that we’re not happy with where we are right now. It’s about more than just this match; it’s about the month as a whole. We need to raise our game both individually and as a collective, as our current performance falls short of Manchester City’s expectations.”
The loss pushed City out of the top four as they brace themselves for an upcoming match against Aston Villa.
