The Placepot is a bet allowing you to select a horse to finish in the TOP SIX of the first six races at any meeting.

You can choose more than one horse in a race, and you multiply the number of selections in each race to set your stake. For example, with the selections 2x2x2x1x2x2, you total 32 lines.

Your stake can start at 5p per line, totaling £1.60. A 10p line costs £3.20, and so on. As long as at least one horse from each race places, we win!

Cheltenham Placepot tips – Saturday, December 14th

LEG 1: Ambiente Amigo, Total Look

AMBIENTE AMIGO missed out last time with a third-place finish at Newbury, but Harry Cobden takes the reins today, and we hope she’ll perform better in her third outing over hurdles. She excelled on the Flat and had plenty in hand when winning her hurdles debut at Newcastle. There is undoubtedly more to come from James Owen’s filly, especially with valuable weight relief from the male competitors.

TOTAL LOOK emerges as a strong contender after winning on debut at Navan last month. Trainer Gavin Cromwell boasts an excellent Cheltenham track record and this horse has a robust hurdling pedigree.

LEG 2: Transmission, Peaky Boy

TRANSMISSION was impressive during his last victory over course and distance. This was just his second run over fences in the UK, and the handicapper has assigned a fair 3lb increase. We are expecting great things from him.

PEAKY BOY made a successful chasing debut here over 2m4f, displaying potential with a powerful finish up the hill, indicating that this longer distance is suitable. Nicky Henderson’s hopeful jumped efficiently and seems capable of handling a 7lb weight uplift.

LEG 3: Coco Mademoiselle, Malaita

COCO MADEMOISELLE has secured a couple of hurdle victories but always appeared more suited to chasing, narrowly missing out on her debut over fences at Worcester. She was just edged out after the last fence over the 2m7f distance, so this slight distance reduction should suit her. Expect notable improvement as she is competitively well-weighted based on her hurdle form.

MALAITA secured victory in her last race at Cheltenham and performed well at Carlisle during her previous outing. She relishes this distance and looks to be a solid option for a top finish.

Madara was an impressive performer last month

LEG 4: Madara, Grandeur D’Ame

MADARA caught the eye during his debut for the Skelton team in last month’s Paddy Power Gold Cup. He was trailing the field three out but finished strongly, climbing the hill to secure fourth place. With Harry Skelton taking over today from a less experienced jockey, and having confirmed his stamina, we anticipate he’ll be ridden more prominently. He benefits from a favorable weight cushion against the winner Il Ridoto, opening the door for a form reversal now that he’s at a career-high mark.

GRANDEUR D’AME returned to form with a win at Chepstow in October. He delivered a respectable fourth-place in this race last year, demonstrating the capability to emulate that performance.

LEG 5: Skyjack Hijack

SKYJACK HIJACK is a trainer’s and owner’s dream, having achieved an incredible six consecutive victories at Newcastle last time out. His seamless movement over hurdles keeps him positioned at the front. Although this will be his toughest test yet, his impressive times indicate he can compete at this level without concerns regarding stamina in any ground condition.

LEG 6: Take No Chances, Pretending

TAKE NO CHANCES showed solid form in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle a fortnight ago and should feel more at home returning to handicap level. Entering Gosforth Park off a commanding 10-length victory in a Listed race at Wetherby, she possesses proven stamina over three miles. Having finished close behind at Chepstow from a pound lower back in October, she appears set for further improvement.

PRETENDING led for a considerable portion of her last race at Wincanton before fading towards the end. Having previously secured victory at this venue, she could still manage a place.
