A FORMER boxing rival of John Fury has died at the age of 69.
Neil Malpass achieved victory over Fury in a 10-round heavyweight bout in 1989, capturing the Central Area title.
Throughout his career, which spanned from 1977 to 1990, Malpass fought in 48 matches.
His victory against Fury made him one of only four fighters to defeat Tyson’s father, and he is uniquely noted for having faced the now 59-year-old in a championship contest.
After retiring from boxing, Malpass transitioned into the role of a boxing coach.
More updates will follow.
