The Placepot is a betting option where you select horses to place in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting.
You can choose more than one horse in a race—your stake is determined by the number of selections in each race. Hence, for example, if you select 2x2x2x1x2x2, that totals 32 lines.
You can stake any amount starting from 5p a line, which costs £1.60 in total. Staking 10p per line adds up to £3.20, and so on. As long as at least one horse in each race places, you’re eligible for a payout!
Don’t forget to take advantage of your £40 bonus when you stake £10 as a new customer with Tote HERE*.
Cheltenham Placepot Tips – Friday, December 13th
LEG 1: That’s Nice, Country Mile
THAT’S NICE is poised to take full advantage of the 7lb allowance she gets from the boys, having shown great potential with her debut win at Warwick last month. Nico De Boinville hardly had to push her as she cruised to victory, and she can certainly build on this encouraging performance.
COUNTRY MILE showcased a solid performance in a Haydock Grade 2 last month, although a mistake at the final flight cost him dearly. The drier ground should favor the Skelton entry, who still has room for improvement.
LEG 2: Caldwell Potter, Jango Baie
CALDWELL POTTER began to justify a fraction of his substantial purchase price by winning decisively on his chase debut at Carlisle 12 days ago. He jumped well and is anticipated to make significant strides from that run. Previously a Grade 1 performer over hurdles, he looks a tough competitor.
JANGO BAIE was also a fine performer over hurdles and was unlucky to finish second last seen at Aintree. Nicky Henderson has been optimistic concerning his training.
LEG 3: Valgrand, Tintintin
VALGRAND will feel much more at home over this distance, as he kicked off the season with a Grade 2 victory on the Old course. He finished strongly by 17 lengths there but encountered the potential superstar Potters Charm too strong over 2m5f last time out. While he carries top weight, his initial rating may be generous, and he performs well on good ground.
TINTINTIN produced a robust fourth-place finish in the Greatwood Hurdle last month. He returns from the same rating, which presents solid place chances yet again.

LEG 4: Chianti Classico
CHIANTI CLASSICO has enough class to concede weight after his impressive comeback win at Ascot last month. He confirmed his quality by winning the Ultima at this year’s Festival and excelled in an Aintree Grade 1. His impeccable jumping is a great asset, and trainer Kim Bailey has started the season impressively.
LEG 5: Shan Blue, Shakem Up’Arry
SHAN BLUE had impressive performances towards the end of last season and was a credible fourth in his return at Bangor last time out. He moved well for a large part of the race under tough conditions and should benefit from the expected improvement in ground. Although a bit unpredictable, this will be his first attempt in veterans’ contests which could unlock his potential from a lower rating.
SHAKEM UP’ARRY tends to perform well after a break and won the Festival Plate during his prior visit to Cheltenham. He rises 6lbs in weight today but continues to be a strong contender.
LEG 6: Mister Coffey, Delta Work
MISTER COFFEY is given one last chance to secure a win over fences. After a nine-month layoff, he showed promise on this cross-country course last time. Although he finished strongly in second, the winner had already vanished. With Nico De Boinville now aware of his stamina, he can position the Nicky Henderson chaser closer to the pace, and he has dropped weight nicely.
DELTA WORK has a solid history here and is a genuine threat. Despite a slightly rusty return at Down Royal last month, he is expected to show his true potential. With Rob James reducing his weight by 7lbs, he doesn’t carry the top weight either.
