Williams is notable as the sole African-based nominee, highlighting his outstanding contributions to both Sundowns and the Bafana Bafana. The CAF encountered difficulties in reducing the list to three due to intense competition and tied votes.

The winner will be announced on December 16 in Morocco, where all nominees are anticipated to be present.

In the women’s category, the shortlisted contenders include Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco), Chiamaka Nnandoze (Nigeria), and Barbara Banda (Zambia).
