GOUT GOUT’s furious father has revealed that the sprinting sensation has been referred to by the incorrect name for years due to an astonishing spelling error.
The parents of the 16-year-old “next Usain Bolt” are holding officials responsible for the “unacceptable” error, clarifying what his rightful name should be.
Gout Gout has shattered numerous age records in both 100m and 200m events.
He clocked a remarkable time of 20.04 seconds in the longer race, breaking the Australian record that had stood since Peter Norman won silver at the 1968 Olympics.
However, his father, Bona, has voiced his frustration regarding a serious oversight that has led to his son being addressed by an incorrect name.
The mix-up began when the family fled South Sudan to Egypt as refugees.
Bona shared with Channel 7 their plans to move to Canada.
However, documents from the Australian Government arrived first, prompting the family to alter their plans to settle in Australia.
Bona suspects the Sudanese Government erroneously recorded “Gout Gout” on the required documentation.
He stated, “His name is Guot; it’s meant to be Guot.”

“Seeing people call him Gout Gout doesn’t please me at all.”
He emphasized that it should be pronounced “gwot.”
Bona pointed out the inflammatory condition gout that can cause foot pain and swelling.
He expressed, “I understand that gout is a disease name, but I don’t want my son to carry a name linked to an illness… It’s simply not acceptable.
“It holds immense cultural significance, particularly since family members associate the name Guot Guot with them; when they hear Gout Gout, that connection is lost.”
Bona now hopes for his son’s name to be officially changed back to Guot.
