Just a few days after leaving Richards Bay, Brandon Truter has landed a new role.

He has been appointed as the head coach of Upington City, participating in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Truter returns to Upington, a club he departed from at the conclusion of the off-season to join Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal.

He succeeds Thulani Nkosi, who faced challenges after a string of recent defeats for Upington in the second-tier league.

“As we bid farewell to coach Nkosi, we are pleased to announce that Coach Brandon Truter will take over as the new Head Coach of Upington City FC, effective immediately,” the club stated in their announcement.

“Coach Truter is returning to a club where he has previously found success as the senior coach, and his expertise and familiarity with the team will be vital as he leads the players and staff during this transition period.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Truter back to Upington City FC. His hiring represents a significant boost for the team, and we are hopeful about his capacity to guide us to success.”

At the moment, Upington sits 11th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, having earned 16 points from 13 matches, including a recent 3-1 defeat at home to Kruger United from Mpumalanga on Sunday.

Truter’s first match in charge will be against Hungry Lions at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberly on Friday at 15:30.
