SPRINT prodigy Gout Gout has achieved an outstanding U18 100 metre world record… but it won’t be acknowledged officially.

The 16-year-old Australian star finished in 10.04 seconds at the national All-Schools Athletics Championships held in Queensland on Friday.

Gout surged ahead of his rivals, breaking the previous U18 world record of 10.06, which was jointly held by American Christian Miller and Thailand’s Puripol Boonson.

Unfortunately, Gout’s incredible feat does not count as a valid time due to an illegal tailwind of 3.4m/sec.

Additionally, it doesn’t register as the fastest invalid U18 100m performance, as American Erriyon Knighton had previously posted a wind-assisted time of 9.99.

Nonetheless, this young athlete’s achievement remains impressive, especially as he approaches his 17th birthday on December 29.

To put Gout’s time of 10.02 into context, Usain Bolt, the holder of the all-time fastest 100m record at 9.58, had a personal best of 10.03 until he was 21.

A few months after breaking the 10-second barrier, Bolt reached a world record of 9.68 to clinch gold at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Gout first came into the spotlight in April 2023, when he set the Australian U18 men’s 200m record with an impressive time of 20.87 seconds at just 15 years old.

After that performance, he stated: “It means a lot to me because I’ve trained hard for this. I was really anxious.
