Rules and Format of Snooker Shoot Out 2024

The Snooker Shoot Out features a unique format that challenges players against the clock.

Each match is capped at 10 minutes, with a 15-second shot clock for the opening half and a 10-second shot clock for the concluding half.

Important rules include:

• Frames are restricted to a maximum duration of 10 minutes.
• The shot clock ensures players can’t waste time.
• During the first five minutes, players have 15 seconds per shot.
• In the last five minutes, the shot clock decreases to 10 seconds per shot.
• Players incur a five-point penalty (or the value of the pink or black if attempted) for failing to make a shot in time.
• Each shot must hit a cushion or result in potting a ball.
• If rules are breached, the ball is handed over to the opponent.
• Much like pool, players “lag” for the initial break by sending the white ball from the baulk line against the top cushion.
• The player who gets closest to the baulk cushion wins the lag.
• Tied matches are settled with a shoot-out involving the blue ball, where players aim to pot the blue from its position to a top pocket.
• Flukes are not counted on the final blue.
