ROBBIE SAVAGE is being considered for the open managerial position at Northampton.
Jon Brady resigned from his position at the League One club yesterday after over three years, leaving the team situated in 21st place.
As reported by SunSport, Macclesfield manager Savage has made a favorable impression on the management team of the Cobblers.
Savage, aged 50, took charge of the Northern Premier League team last summer.
The former midfielder for Wales and Blackburn has adeptly steered Macclesfield to first place in the league during his debut as a manager.
Brady’s assistant, Ian Sampson, has taken over temporarily at Northampton and will lead the squad during Monday’s match against Peterborough at home.
A statement from Cobblers Chairman Kelvin Thomason stated: “After Jon’s resignation yesterday, the Board of Directors met and accepted it considering the current circumstances.
“We genuinely appreciate Jon’s contributions to the club, particularly his initial work in the academy and his role as first team manager over the last four years.
“I personally valued Jon’s sincere comments earlier this week as he acknowledged the immense support he received from the club.
“However, we recognize the considerable pressures that come with the manager’s role, and although we would have preferred a different resolution, we respect Jon’s decision.”

“We will now work together with Jon and the LMA concerning his exit agreement.
“In the meantime, we are fortunate to have a talented, dedicated, and experienced staff, under Ian Sampson’s leadership, to manage things during this transitional period, giving us the time needed to address these issues.
“We firmly believe our squad possesses both the capability and quality, and we have full confidence in the players at the club.
“It’s clear that we are currently facing a challenging situation on the field, but we trust that the Cobblers supporters will always rally when needed, and we are confident they will support the team at Sixfields on Monday.”
