Managers of the Dream Team are feeling the pressure as Gameweek 14 approaches rapidly.

With the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League about to kick off again after a full round of Premier League matches, the seven teams participating in European competitions will have packed schedules ahead.

We won’t subject you to the usual suspects like Mohamed Salah (£7.4m), Bukayo Saka (£6.6m), and Erling Haaland (£8.6m) as transfer options (since they are obvious choices). Instead, we’re bringing you some fresh alternatives as we gear up for the Saturday 11am deadline.

Joe Gomez (£3.1m)

Despite Liverpool conceding three goals to Newcastle recently, their defensive unit remains a reliable source of points this season.

With Ibrahima Konate (£4.8m) out until the new year, Gomez is expected to receive ample playing time—he started in both the matches against Manchester City and Newcastle, netting nine points in Gameweek 13.

In Gameweek 14, the Reds have a significantly more favorable double matchup against Everton and Girona.

While the Toffees will be eager to put up a fight against their local rivals, they rank among the lowest-scoring teams in the league, and Girona has not fully regained their 2023/24 season form, currently sitting eighth in La Liga.

Arne Slot will be hopeful of achieving at least one clean sheet in the upcoming games, making Gomez a cost-effective option to capture potential points.

Conversely, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.7m) remains a pricier option as the most expensive defender in Dream Team, but his average of 6.9 points per game this season indicates his potential to deliver a high score in Gameweek 14.

The creative right-back achieved 16 points from his displays against Man City and Newcastle, contributing two assists and reaffirming his quality since returning from injury.

Martin Odegaard (£5.2m)

As previously mentioned, Saka is the standout player for the Dream Team currently and should definitely be considered a must-have.

Moreover, it may be worth doubling up on Arsenal midfielders as the festive period approaches, particularly with their upcoming fixtures looking favorable.

The Gunners’ captain has recorded three assists and one goal in the three Gameweeks since returning to the starting lineup.

Odegaard’s stats are compelling, and he has displayed remarkable sharpness on the pitch since the end of the November international break.

Before the break, Arsenal’s offense was struggling, netting only one goal in three matches; however, they have scored 16 goals in five games since the Norwegian midfielder regained full fitness.

Kevin De Bruyne (£5.8m)

If Odegaard isn’t your preferred choice, you might want to explore another high-caliber midfielder.

De Bruyne showcased his brilliance midweek, contributing a goal and an assist during a 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.

He also picked up three bonus points, wrapping up with 18 points, factoring in his total from the previous match against Liverpool.

Although the 33-year-old has logged only 548 minutes on the pitch this season, Pep Guardiola is likely to count on him heavily as City faces Crystal Palace and Juventus in Gameweek 14.

We won’t need to expound on KDB’s skills; it’s just surprising to see such an exceptional player with an ownership percentage hovering at just 4.8%.

Morgan Rogers (£2.7m) or Youri Tielemans (£3.9m)

Although confidence in Aston Villa players has dipped recently, Gameweek 14 presents a promising opportunity for scoring points, especially after Unai Emery’s side bounced back with a win against Brentford midweek.

The Villains will face 20th-placed Southampton on Saturday and will then play RB Leipzig on Tuesday. This encounter may be favorable, as the Bundesliga side has suffered five defeats in their last seven matches across all competitions.

While Ollie Watkins (£5.3m) notably earned 19 points in Gameweek 13, his significant price tag and frequent substitutions in the final moments of matches might make him less viable.

Both Rogers and Tielemans represent affordable midfield options, having recently achieved double-digit point hauls.

The Belgian internationals have accumulated a total of 30 bonus points this season—the highest among all players, tied with Ryan Gravenberch (£3.8m).
