The streaming giant DAZN, based in the UK, has successfully obtained the broadcast rights for FIFA’s upcoming Club World Cup.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino will attend the draw in Miami, which will determine the groupings of the 32 participating teams, including clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Jude Bellingham’s Real Madrid, and Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich.

The announcement of the DAZN contract – alongside hints of potential major investment from Saudi Arabia – strengthens Infantino’s belief that the tournament is on track for massive success.

Unlike the World Cup, this new tournament is not classified among the UK’s “listed events” that must be shown on free-to-air terrestrial TV.

Nonetheless, the DAZN agreement will ensure that all matches can be streamed for free on the platform.

FIFA has labeled this a “historic agreement,” indicating that the entire tournament will be “live-streamed and available for free on DAZN globally,” although FIFA may permit sub-licensing to traditional broadcasters in specific regions.

Infantino stated: “This agreement guarantees that every football fan worldwide can experience the top talents from the 32 best clubs facing off in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup to crown the first official ‘FIFA Club World Champions’.

“The new FIFA Club World Cup is an equitable and inclusive tournament that embodies the peak of global club football, igniting passion among players and supporters alike.

“Thanks to this broadcasting arrangement, billions of football fans globally will now have access to what is set to be the most accessible club football tournament in history – and FOR FREE.”
