Reports indicate that LIVERPOOL captain Virgil van Dijk has received a new contract proposal.
Furthermore, the Premier League leaders, who have a nine-point advantage over Arsenal and Chelsea, are expected to also put forth an offer for Mohamed Salah.
The Reds are eager to secure Van Dijk’s future by offering him a new deal.
The defender, who currently earns £220,000 per week, is part of a group of Liverpool players at risk of leaving the club on a free transfer.
Van Dijk, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Salah, has only a few months remaining on their contracts.
However, Liverpool has made an initial proposal to extend Van Dijk’s contract beyond June, according to The Athletic.
Unfortunately, it seems that the offer fell short of his expectations, and the discussions about the contract’s value and duration have yet to bear fruit.
All three players are prominent figures at Liverpool and have played a crucial role in the team’s strong performance this season under the new management of Arne Slot.
Liverpool is also actively taking “concrete measures” regarding contract negotiations with Salah.
The future of the 32-year-old winger has become a hot topic among fans and the media.

The Egyptian star has indicated on multiple occasions that his eight-year stint at Anfield might be reaching its end.
After Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City, he stated: “Honestly, that’s what’s in my mind — this could be the last game against City for Liverpool, so I plan to enjoy it fully.”
“The atmosphere was incredible, so I will treasure every moment here.”
Last month, he mentioned to Sky Sports that “no offer” had been made for an extension.
The club’s ownership, FSG, has yet to acquiesce to his salary expectations, and he is aware of the attractive proposals available in the Saudi Pro League.
Salah has reiterated his crucial contribution to the Reds’ title pursuit, boosting his season goal tally to 13.
In the meantime, lifelong Liverpool fan Alexander-Arnold has not yet received a contract extension offer either.
He has often been linked with a possible move to join best friend Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid.
In theory, the 26-year-old right-back could enter into a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January, with his current contract expiring in June.
Both Van Dijk and Salah have participated in every Premier League match this season, along with midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
Salah had secured a long-term extension in 2022 amid similar worries about his future, signing a deal worth £350,000 per week.
Liverpool currently holds the top spot in the Premier League with 34 points out of a possible 39, having endured only one defeat, a narrow 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.
