HARRY KANE will NOT achieve a win in this year’s German cup after Bayern Munich was knocked out by Bayer Leverkusen last night.
Vincent Kompany’s squad faced a 1-0 defeat against the reigning champions, with Nathan Tella scoring the only goal in the second half.
Kane, at 31 years old, sat out this match after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Kompany vowed to “approach matters differently” without the former Tottenham forward available against Leverkusen.
The task became more challenging for his team when, at the 17-minute mark, Manuel Neuer received a red card for taking out Jeremie Frimpong after charging off his line.
Bayern managed to play with 10 men for over 50 minutes, but eventually conceded a goal when former Southampton and Burnley winger Tella found the back of the net with a header from an exquisite delivery by Alex Grimaldo.
Kompany’s squad pushed for an equalizer, with Michael Olise missing a crucial opportunity as time wound down.
However, lacking their main striker, they could not find a goal, and Leverkusen triumphed with a 1-0 victory.
This outcome means Kane will miss an opportunity to contribute in this season’s DFB Pokal, Germany’s domestic cup.
Despite being a top scorer for the last decade, Kane has yet to earn any major trophies.

During his time at Tottenham, he was a runner-up in the Premier League, *Champions League, and twice in the League Cup.
Moreover, he experienced defeats in two European Championship finals with England.
Kane moved to Bayern in the summer of 2023, looking to add some trophies to his collection.
However, events have not unfolded as he had hoped.
Last season, under Thomas Tuchel, the Bundesliga side finished third.
They were eliminated from the DFB Pokal by second-tier FC Saarbrucken and faced a defeat against eventual champions Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals with a 4-3 aggregate score.
Bayern is currently at the top of the Bundesliga, leading by four points after 12 matches.
Kane has scored 20 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, adding to the 44 goals he had last season.
Updating on Kane’s fitness yesterday, manager Kompany remarked: “There’s a chance he’ll return to play this year. He will definitely miss a few matches.”
“You cannot replace him directly. He’s an exceptional player.”
