Following this victory, Arsenal narrowed the deficit to seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, who drew 3-3 at St James’ Park.

Mikel Arteta’s team regained their advantage through a set-piece, with Jurrien Timber finding the net with a well-placed header in the 54th minute, assisted by Declan Rice.

They doubled their lead from another corner in the 73rd minute, with William Saliba scoring, albeit by accident.

This match marked the first defeat for Manchester United under the brief reign of Ruben Amorim.
