MOHAMED SALAH is open to signing a new one-year contract with Liverpool, despite rising frustrations about how the club is handling his contract negotiations.

The Egyptian forward’s current deal will expire at the end of the summer, and he revealed last month that there is no current offer on the table from Liverpool, as the club remains firm on its salary structure.

In July 2022, Salah signed a three-year contract reportedly worth £350k a week, and he is now seeking a similar deal, ideally with a pay increase, to continue at the club.

However, as per reports from The Athletic, the 32-year-old is willing to extend his contract for an additional year, which would temporarily alleviate concerns about his future while the team competes for the Premier League title.

His primary ambition is to remain at the club where he has won one Premier League title, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, one FA Cup, and one EFL Cup, with a remarkable tally of 224 goals in 369 matches.

Nonetheless, discussions seem to be protracted, as Liverpool has yet to communicate its position, leaving Salah dissatisfied with the club’s upper management.

In a public exchange with the club he has been with for eight successful years, Salah indicated that he felt “more out than in” following the 3-2 Premier League victory over Southampton on November 24.

After the 2-0 win against Manchester City last weekend, where he scored once and assisted another, he alluded to the possibility that this could be his last game against Pep Guardiola’s squad at Anfield.

From January 1, Salah is eligible to negotiate with overseas clubs and has garnered interest from several elite European teams, including Paris Saint-Germain, along with a number of Saudi clubs.

In the summer of 2023, a £150million proposal from Al-Ittihad was turned down.

Nonetheless, Liverpool asserts that discussions with Salah have been positive, with the player netting 13 goals in 20 appearances under new manager Arne Slot.

The Reds currently lead the Premier League, boasting a nine-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
