GABRIEL has confirmed that he WILL be fit to face Manchester United this Wednesday, despite worries about an injury.
The Arsenal defender was taken off at halftime during Saturday night’s 5-2 victory over West Ham.
This substitution was made due to a muscle injury incurred during Tuesday’s away victory against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.
Gabriel played through some discomfort at the London Stadium, where he also netted Arsenal’s first goal.
However, following a clash with Lukasz Fabianski, which resulted in a penalty for Arsenal’s fifth goal, manager Mikel Arteta opted to substitute him at halftime for caution’s sake.
The Brazilian posted on Instagram: “Three points and we keep fighting together! Thanks for your support, Gunners. See you on Wednesday!”
Centre-back Gabriel, 26, has started every Premier League game for Arsenal this season, scoring three goals, and the team is hopeful he will be fit for the match against United.
Mikel Merino (knee) and Thomas Partey (muscular) are also working to regain fitness ahead of the match.
Arteta has confronted a series of injury issues affecting several defensive players this season, with Ben White having been confirmed to be facing an extended recovery period.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori have also been out for several matches.
