Moyes appeared alongside Chapman and Alan Shearer on the BBC highlights show to analyze the matches from the weekend.

While discussing Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa, Chapman remarked on Chelsea’s ability to rotate their squad due to their participation in the Uefa Conference League, contrasting it with the Champions League or Europa League.

Implying that the lesser competition in the Conference League allows Chelsea more flexibility with their players, Chapman stated: “If you look at the changes that he [Enzo Maresca] can make in Europe.

“And look, they’re in the Conference League so they can…”

Before he finished, Moyes interjected with humor: “What’s wrong with the Conference League?”

This witty reply had both Chapman and Shearer in fits of laughter, with Moyes referencing his successful campaign in the Conference League with West Ham.

Chapman added with a chuckle: “That was a bit awkward!”

Moyes famously guided West Ham to victory in the Conference League in 2023, triumphing over Fiorentina in the final held in Prague, marking an historic moment as the first English club to lift the relatively new trophy.

However, The Sun reported last month that the BBC plans to divide hosting responsibilities between two presenters—a scenario Chapman does not support.

Indeed, Chapman has rejected any notion of job sharing for Match of the Day.
