MARCO SILVA explained that Andreas Pereira was left out of Fulham’s lineup against Spurs due to a “technical decision” and NOT because of an interview regarding a possible transfer away from the club.

Midfielder Pereira suggested to PL Brasil earlier this week that moving to Marseille to play under Roberto De Zerbi would be “very cool”.

However, the Brazilian took to social media on Sunday to voice his frustration at the English translation of his comments, labeling it as “malicious and inaccurate”.

The former Manchester United player, 28, wrote on Instagram: “In the interview, I clearly expressed my happiness and satisfaction with being at Fulham and my gratitude towards the club and staff for everything they have done for me, consistently stressing that I have two years left on my contract and am fully committed to my club.

“Unfortunately, the article includes inaccurate statements that do not reflect my actual words.

“I am deeply disappointed by the unprofessional conduct in this situation and kindly request a retraction of the quotes that were wrongly attributed to me.”

Pereira had started in all 12 of Fulham’s Premier League matches this season prior to the game on Sunday.

Nonetheless, he was completely omitted from the squad as the Cottagers fought to a 1-1 draw against Tottenham, despite goal-scorer Tom Cairney’s red card.

Silva, however, clarified: “(The interview was) not the reason for him not being in the squad. I didn’t read the interview. I know some of the topics. To read something, I need to be sure it was accurately represented. I

“Don’t base my decisions on interviews, newspapers, or social media. I don’t monitor them, although I am aware of some discussions.

“He wasn’t prepared for the game. It was a technical decision from my side.”

Regardless, Silva’s side held on to claim a valuable point.
